Any time I am supper busy I start to wonder if more people are needed. In today’s world, I would kind of figure that understaffing happens more than we would like to think.

A way to determine your staffing levels would be to take the number of employees that work in supply chain (your definition) and divide by the total number of employees. If supply chain is less than 1% then maybe you need to hire. If you are over 5% then you have to wonder why? Do you have too many manual steps? Workflows and procedures have not been established or followed?

The numbers will not tell you the entire story. They will simply give you a starting point.
