I have been thinking that based on what I see on various posts and articles, that too much time is spent on the right hand side of the image.

If it were me, I would be looking to use category management to streamline the buying process and to improve innovation.

Over the last few weeks, I have been looking at how I can make QCsolver much more effective when it comes to handling categories. NIGP has a great method to classify commodities and services but it has a lot of categories that most of us will never use.

SIC is another classification that is way to complex. The various bidding sites all have their own way of creating classification.

After doing my necessary research, I have decided to make a few adjustments to how QCsolver categorizes goods and services with a main category and a sub category which includes the various other ways to describe the goods and services.

I am sure that I will never be done and that I will need to continue to adjust how we handle categories in order to meet the needs of the thousands of suppliers using our QCsolver system.

Making things easier and more efficient is the key to effective category management.
