This is a Japanese term referring to a business network made up of different companies, including manufacturers, supply chain partners and distributors.

I first heard the term when I did a project with Denso in Guelph. I quickly understood that the relationship between Denso and Toyota was so strong that Denso built a plant in Canada in order to better serve their customer.

I was thinking that maybe we can create our own Canadian version of Keiretsu. This would be would be a network made up of government, supply chain partners and educators. The goal would be to enable collaboration and increase potential synergies.

I am going to continue to do some research to see if I can come up with some interesting concrete examples. It would be great if a few of you would share a few if you have them.
