What I have noticed is that organizations are always looking for talent versus developing talent in house. I have also observed that a job advertisement often looks like a wish list.

In supply chain, we use a published criteria which enables suppliers to determine roughly how many points they would get should they bid on a job.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the same was true when you went to apply for a job. What is truly important? Diploma or years of experience? Technical or soft skills?

I always advise people to apply for jobs even if they don’t tick all of the boxes. After all they might have what is needed and what they don’t have isn’t all that important to the organization.
